NYC Photo-Shoot! 01/10/2011
![]() While in Brooklyn for the New year I joined forces with my talented sister Kia Davis. She directed and executed a fabulous photo-shoot that will hopefully yield the cover art for my album. ![]() We hit the snow covered streets of Brooklyn a few days after the huge blizzard that shut down the entire city. ![]() The stark and cold urban landscape proved to be an appropriate background and set the mood for the searching quality I feel Lost and Lookin’ evokes. Kia, a student of photography at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, captured some brilliant shots with the digital camera and I look forward to seeing the photographs that she took with film, once she develops them in the darkroom! ![]() The 2nd half of the shoot moved indoors and provides a warmer and more intimate portrait. I was interested in having many contrasting patterns to provide a deeply textured scene. We are considering handcoloring the photographs with simple tints in the pre-color style that is evocative of photography in the 1st half of the last century. ![]() This is just a small selection of the photos we took and there is much thinking, editing, choosing, cropping, coloring, etc. to come, but I wanted to share some of what we captured. Let me know what you think! CommentsNadia 01/10/2011 10:35

Really beautiful photos! I particularly like the 2nd and 3rd ones...very evocative of the a Lost and Lookin' kind of mood.
